Adagio for Strings

– April 2011 – Duration 3/4 minutes.

Requested by Gary Woolf for the Banda di Musica, this piece is a slightly simplified arrangement of my Septet’s slow 4th movement. The cello solo remains the same apart from the harmonics, which have been transfered as ordinary high notes to a solo violin. This will make the piece much more approachable for younger players. It is arranged for;  1st, 2nd and 3rd violins and 1st and 2nd cellos. The lead 1st violin and lead 1st cello will play the solos.
There is also now a “Standard” arrangement of this piece available for;
1st and 2nd violins, viola, cello and double bass.

Recording by Banda Di Musica. Conducted by Gary Woolf. Soloist Hannes Kiefner.
