Adagio for Strings (From Septet)

School Arrangement-Full Score (Arrangement 1)
School Arrangement-Set Of Parts (Arrangement 1)
Standard Arrangement-Full Score (Arrangement 2)
Standard Arrangement-Set Of Parts (Arrangement 2)

April 2011 – Duration 4/5 minutes.

Requested by Gary Woolf for the Banda di Musica, this piece is a slightly simplified arrangement of my Septet’s slow 4th movement. The cello solo remains the same apart from the harmonics, which have been transferred as ordinary high notes to a solo violin. This will make the piece much more approachable for younger players.

There are two Arrangements;

No.1 – School Arrangement –  Violins 1, 2 and 3 and Cellos 1 and 2.

The cello solo is played by the lead cellist and is written on the Cello 1 part.

No.2 – Standard Arrangement – Violins 1 and 2, Viola, Cello and Double Bass. Again, the cello solo is played by the lead cellist.

Recording by Banda Di Musica. Conducted by Gary Woolf. Soloist Hannes Kiefner.
